Hi
Would anyone help me with information regarding macroprolactine
When we receive a macroprolactin request , we do prolactin (on Architec,
Abbott) . If the result is "high" (M >19.0 ug/L or F>24.0 ug/L),
two tests are reflexed; we send aliquots to two other labs for prolactin
to be run under methods reputed to be less sensitive to
macroprolactin interference then ours. The final result for macroprolactin
is interpretive (based on a comparison of both three results).
I'd rather neasure macroprolactin or clear from the sample somehow, if
possible.
Is there any (semi)-automated method to measure macroprolactin?
Is-it sufficient to add a comment on every high prolactin, about possible
interference of macroprolactin in the method currently used,
and simply provide a prolactin result (with comment) for every
macroprolactin requested?
Is there an algorithm for investigation of high prolactin?
Are there references to support the clinically utility of macroprolactin
measurement?
Your comments and suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
Best regards
