i know nothing about R., nor of this particular Bill, but if he was at
Clairvaux during the lifetime of Bernie, you might try (among the
not-so-obvious places):
Anselme Dimier, “Les religieux de Clairvaux, moines, convers et novices,
sous l’abbatiat de Saint Bernard,” in A. Dimier, _Saint Bernard
“pêcheur de Dieu”_ (Paris, 1953), I, pp. 173-198.
which has been greatly expanded and updated by:
Laurent Veyssière, “Le personnel de l’abbaye de Clairvaux au XIIe
siècle,” _Cîteaux, Commentarii Cistercienses_, LI, 2000, pp. 17-90.
Veyssière, in particular, encompases more than just the period of the reign
(do abbots "reign"?) of Bernie and is very, very thorough, giving all the
sources wherein his guys are mentioned. quite a resource.
