We've never cashed in at AS unless necessary because of changes in
syllabus.
We ran Cambridge modular science for many years so had a fair bit of
experience with modules.
We write our own MIS so it's a fairly simple to calculate grades. I
wrote the code so I should know.
Basic thing is to work out the types of course - 2 or 3 modules or more
for double vocational, out of 200 or 300 or more. The standard AS have a
simple grade structure as does the single vocational. Double vocational
is a pain but quite reasonable once you get your head round it.
Starting at 08:00 on the Wednesday and dealing with around 700 at AS it
takes me most of the day to sort everything out, but that also includes
things like calculating ALPS grades (provisional) by teaching group and
checking our UCAS points to see if we've made the top 20 again.
