Dear Zooarchers,
I very much agree with Richard's suggestion and I hope it'll be taken on board.
However, I would still like to encourage members to hit the reply-to-all
button, as this list is also for discussion and not just for information
exchange. Quite often people send comments in addition to references and those
contribute to make zooarch more lively. Jacqui and I have many times encouraged
people to reply to the list, but of course at the end of the day is up to the
individuals to decide whether they want to share their messages or not.
People who have been on this list for a while will remember that a few years ago
we considered the possibility of reverting back to the situation we had at the
beginning when by hitting just 'reply' we would reply to the whole list (an
option we had changed because often private messages were sent to the list by
mistake). We asked for opinions and a slight majority of members agreed to have
the format which is now in place. I still think this was the right choice but
of course the drawback is that many people just can't be bothered to hit the
'reply'to'all' button and therefore a lot of useful knowledge is lost to the
list. I can only conclude that the world is an imperfect place and so is
Zooarch.
Cheers,
Umberto
