Not trying to be difficult. Really.
It was just one of those words I pack away in the hope that sometime
they might spark a poem. Normally a process that takes years if not
decades. In the meantime, having followed you down the Google trail, I'm
wondering what to make of the (Wikipedia) fact(oid) that the Malagasy
fat-tailed dwarf lemur is the only mammal known to estivate. Oh brave
new world that has such primates in it!
I'm not sure where I came across the word first. It seems to have an SF
resonance. Doug or someone - can you remember an SF story that had
estivation as a prominent component?
As far as poeticising goes, I've been as dry as Australia during an El
Nino event. My book has disappeared into a publishing twilight zone -
it's a long story. I'm hoping that, if my boss agrees to my taking a few
weeks leave over Christmas, I might get back into writing.
Regards
Martin
