medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Esteemed Colleagues,
I was looking at a manuscript missal in our university's rare book room
a few days ago, and found in the calendar a feast for the "dedication of
the church of St. Elibius." Does anyone have an idea who this saint
might be? My immediate thought was Eligius, but it was definitely a "b"
and not a "g." I have tried some of the standard lists of saints, and
some of the most obvious variations (e.g., "Helibius," "Elebius"), but
with no luck. Suggestions?
Best, Megan
