The Centre for Public Health is a vibrant research and teaching
community working in partnership to deliver health at local, regional,
national and international level. We specialise in applied research
and educational programmes addressing health issues at all levels from
policy development to service delivery. The Centre is firmly committed
to a multi-disciplinary approach to Public Health and works not only
with health services but also with local authorities, judicial bodies,
environmental services and community groups. To help us achieve this
we are looking to appoint to the following post.
Researcher in Media Transmission of Alcohol Cultures
£24,152 - £28,839

You will work in the Centre for Public Health on this Joseph Rowntree
Foundation funded research project which starts March 2009 and
investigates the links between media, celebrity, and alcohol drinking
in young people. You will contribute to a number of primary and
secondary research studies. The post would be suited to experienced
researchers with a recent history of research and publication in the
field, or early career researchers who have recently completed a
Masters or PhD. Contract will be for an initial period of 18 months,
with possible renewal depending upon securing funding. Informal
