I'm not sure how they get the figures of £4.20 for cholesterol and £6.20 for glucose. To mind mind they'd be more like to 70p quoted for creatinine
Or did Salford quote a high figure in the hopes of getting paid it?

The section on the cost of tests is certainly interesting reading, thanks for pointing this out Jonathan.
Cholesterol: POCT £8.00 vs Lab £4.20
Fasting glucose: POCT £8.00 vs Lab £6.20
Creatinine: POCT not stated. Lab £0.70
In practice, labs will struggle to recover more than £1.42 for each of these tests as this is the current DoH national tariff for Biochemistry tests (without adjustment for local market force factor).
