Hi Richard
I'm just going through faunal reports for Norwich and turkey is present
at Alms lane and Castle Mall. One of the Castle Mall elements is
recorded as late medieval.
Albarella, U., Beech, M. and Mulville, J. 1997 'The Saxon, medieval and
post-medieval mammal and bird bone from Castle Mall, Norwich', English
Heritage, AML report 72/97.
Harman, M., Baker, J. and Bramwell, D. 1985. 'The bird bones' in Atkin,
M. (ed.) Excavations at Alms Lane. In: Excavations in Norwich 1971-8
part II. East Anglian Archaeology 26, Norwich, 222-3
Hope that helps.

I have a few examples from British sites (Pontefract, Worcester, Launceston, Exeter), the earliest of which is dated 1644-1648, somewhat later than the historically recorded date for their first arrival in Britain (1520s). I would therefore be interested in identifying comparable evidence from other sites, to explore the timing of their introduction and spread.
