I have just completed your survey, and used up all the available space for
comments.
I think you have focussed too much on the computer aided tools which are
called design tools, and missed some of the other ones which we use as well.
Photography/video. As a way of recording the sequences of product usage,
leading to illustrated user scenarios which give infallible pointers to where the
problems lie, and can be used again to check new design proposals right from
the germing of the idea. Designers illustrate people using a product before
they've even started to design it.
Mood/product/user/theme/etc boards. Collages of images to contextualise the
design process. Made with paper and glue or Photoshop.
2D illustration software. Illustrat
