Dear List,
Does anyone know where I can find information on 19th century timber dock
construction, in soft ground? I am currently writing up my excavations of
the Great Dock at Morwellham, built by the Devon Great Consols Mining
Company in 1857-58.
What I would ideally like, is a treatise, with illustrations, to show civil
engineers how it should be done. I've seen drawings of this sort of thing
in engineering encyclopedias, but haven't found anything specific to the
subject.
Can anyone help please?
