Dear Soo
Yes you did reply and my apologies for not getting back to you sooner. I am reading through the information that Peter sent through and discussing it with my wife Elizabeth and some of her colleagues. It appears to be a move to a form of care that is already being practiced in some areas here in Australia, but I need to continue to look closer at it.
We are on an open discussion list so perhaps we can continue our discussions (Peter also if he wishes) independently then report back to the discussion group as things develop?
You and anyone else can contact me at:

Regards

Paul

Dear Paul

I'm not sure if I responded to you on this matter or not - if not, apologies. I would be very interested to discuss this further with you, either by email, or, next year, face to face when I am over in Australia.

Best wishes

Soo

Dear Soo
I am also interested in some of the processes around maternity services as my wife is a midwife. From listening to her talk of the function/disfunction that occurs at times through the women's journey during her pregnancy and then postpartum I see there is a need for a closer look. At present the Australian government is conducting a review into maternity services in this country so there is an opportunity to have some constructive input into the design and delivery of services to women.
I would like to contact you to further discuss the issue.
Regards
Paul

My interest is in complexity, uncertainty, and salutogenesis as applied to maternity care, and, in particular, in understanding how an insight into complex adaptive processes in the physiology of pregnancy and childbirth, and in the organisation of maternity services (and organisational change) may help us to resolve some of the current dilemmas around excessive intervention in some women/populations and insufficient intervention in others, sometimes in the same geographical area or hospital.

Best wishes

Soo

Yes we could if we want - this list is self organising!

As a person brought up pre-facebook, would it be useful (at least for
now) for people to send in a 1 paragraph email about who they are and
what they're doing with complexity / wanting complexity to do for them?

Chris
