Soo,
Yes, my business partner Bill Rodger has been running (and evolving) the
process for nearly 20 years now. Very wide range of applications, only a
couple of them in the health sector so far but considerable interest
resulting from our Manchester case study.
More info on our website, and I have attached an excerpt from a book (no
longer in print) that provides some history and context in case it is of
interest. Happy to meet to demo the technique some time (I am based in
Manchester and get to Preston quite a bit too).

Sorry for not getting back sooner Peter - work expands to fill the time
available and so on! this does look like an interesting approach - has it
been tried in many contexts?

Paul, (and Soo, who is a little closer!),
We ran an intervention (with a facilitated workshop technique based on
Complexity principles) last summer to help Trusts across Greater Manchester
in the UK to prepare for a major transformation in maternity (and
children's) services.
The transformation is named "Making it Better" and you can find more at
http://www.bestforhealth.nhs.uk/page.asp?branchid=CHILDADULT . I understand
that a new 'implementation' website is being created, I can ask for more
info and/or contacts if you are interested.
We have a case study for our specific intervention, which was focused on the
Chief Exec's of the Trusts and their need to 'Clear the decks' in
preparation for this major change. This is available from the home page of
our website at www.complexitysolutions.com

Pete

Dear Soo
I am also interested in some of the processes around maternity services as
my wife is a midwife. From listening to her talk of the function/disfunction
that occurs at times through the women's journey during her pregnancy and
then postpartum I see there is a need for a closer look. At present the
Australian government is conducting a review into maternity services in this
country so there is an opportunity to have some constructive input into the
design and delivery of services to women.
I would like to contact you to further discuss the issue.
Regards
Paul

My interest is in complexity, uncertainty, and salutogenesis as applied to
maternity care, and, in particular, in understanding how an insight into
complex adaptive processes in the physiology of pregnancy and childbirth,
and in the organisation of maternity services (and organisational change)
may help us to resolve some of the current dilemmas around excessive
intervention in some women/populations and insufficient intervention in
others, sometimes in the same geographical area or hospital.
Best wishes
Soo

Yes we could if we want - this list is self organising!
As a person brought up pre-facebook, would it be useful (at least for
now) for people to send in a 1 paragraph email about who they are and
what they're doing with complexity / wanting complexity to do for them?
