Augustus Dalby made the returns of output to the Stannary Court of output for Reeth Consols in 1840-1853. His returns always were made promptly, which was quite unusual; most mines were quite lax in providing returns and paying the Stannary Court dues, & in some cases court action threats were resorted to.

Hi, all -
I would appreciate any information (copies, transcripts, whereabouts of
original documents) relating to Reeth Consols mine, St. Ives, in the
1830s-40s, or its purser, Augustus Dalby, RN, or any of its shareholders
with surname Bennett. I've searched the CRO holding in A2A but not turned up
anything relevant. It's a bit far to visit Truro from here purely on a
'fishing' expedition!
Augustus Dalby was a relative (gggg-uncle) though not one that I am
particularly proud of, as it seems that he was unlawfully enriching himself
at the expense of the mine.
cheers
Steve
