I've just solved my own problem about Henderson being a "Shoebinder".
Almost certainly, this is a transcription error for "Shareholder" as
"Shareholder In Copper Mines" makes perfect sense. It's an interesting
reminder about not trusting someone else's transcription! I've also found
that there were copper mines in sandstone South of Gourock at Drumshantie
and Larkfield and that they were working in 1861. I wonder if there was a
Henderson plant nearby?
