Patristic ideas on this point are given in brief in J. Y.B. Hood, Aquinas
and the Jews (U. of Penna. Press, 1995), pp. 9-10, 13-14. Both punishment
and replacement are mentioned.
I scanned Robert Grosseteste, De cessatione legalium, ed. R.C. Dales and
E.B. King (Oxford UPr, 1986) briefly without spotting any discussion of
the Temple itself.
It might be worth checking discussions of the Jews and the Antichrist to
fit into this discussion ideas of the rebuilding of the Temple; see David
Burr's article The Antichrist and the Jews..." in Friars and the Jews in
the Middle Ages and Renaissance, ed. S.J. McMichael & S.E. Myers (Brill,
2004), pp. 23-38.
