The Department of History at Kalamazoo College invites applications for a tenure-track position as an assistant professor in Early European history, to begin in September 2009. We welcome specialists in all fields to apply, but the department is especially interested in applicants whose approaches include gender, transnational, or Mediterranean history or the history of European contact with Islam and/or the Americas. We seek candidates who can offer a broad range of classes between the Ancient and Early Modern eras, including at least one European History survey. The teaching load is six courses per year on a quarter system (2/2/2), with additional duties including directing senior theses.
Ph.D. or evidence of imminent completion required. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will have demonstrated a high aptitude for and interest in undergraduate teaching, a commitment to the liberal arts, and a promise of scholarly excellence.
