We are very similar to East Norfolk in that we issue all students with a
photo ID card which they are in principle obliged to carry at all times.
For exams we decided a few years ago to operate a zero tolerance policy
for exams. Students must carry their official ID card and no substitutes
are accepted, i.e. driving licence.
Students attending an exam without a card are sent to student services
to obtain one, for which they are charged.
We find the zero tolerance element ensures students conform and our
invigilators are supported in their quest to positively i.d. all
students.
Evening class and external students are advised to bring a form of
photo-i.d. with them such as a passport/licence as they are not issued
with college i.d.
We remind students about their I.D. for exams via the plasma screens
around college.

We supply students with a photo ID card. This is our general standard.
Photo ID has to be carried at all times and is also used e.g. for
library and for IT related enquiries e.g. checking the status of an
account.
For external candidates, we look for either a (photo) driving license of
some signed item e.g. cheque card - this is relatively rare for us.
