EPIDEMIOLOGIST / MEDICAL STATISTICIAN IN KENYA
Kemri / Wellcome Trust major overseas programme
We have an exciting and challenging vacancy for
an Epidemiologist / Medical Statistician to join
the scientific team of a research programme on
studies to improve quality of care for children,
health systems research and burden of disease
modelling amongst others, in Nairobi, Kenya.
The post holder will be employed by the London
School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and will
be based full-time in the Nairobi offices of the
Kemri / Wellcome Trust major overseas programme.
The person appointed will support the design and
organisation of research studies, the statistical
analysis of results, the preparation of research
findings for publication and capacity development of more junior researchers.
The ideal applicant will have a postgraduate
qualification in statistics and practical
experience of working as a medical statistician,
preferably in an epidemiological context, and
excellent communication skills. The ability to
work both independently and as a member of a
multidisciplinary scientific team is essential.
Experience of working in developing countries would be an advantage.
The initial appointment will commence as soon as
possible for a period of three years. Further
extension is possible subject to funding.
The appointment will be made on the National
Research Fellow or Lecturer scales with a
starting salary between £30,227 and £41,545
depending on qualifications and experience. In
addition a displacement allowance of £3,196 per
annum will be payable as well as overseas
allowances and benefits, as appropriate.
