Jennifer,
Two examples of breath H systems are
1) the Quintron, which is sold EU-wide by a dealership in Italy

2) the Gastrolyzer, which is sold by

We bought a Quintron, which is a more serious piece of kit - one that
measures methane as well as hydrogen. It's a GC that uses room air as
a carrier gas and you do calibrations from adjacent mini-cylinders of
H and CH3. Very reliable and very helpful company to deal with.
Although the Quintron is simple to use, a device like the Gastrolyzer
is probably more suitable for on-the-ward, handheld measurement (and
it's cheaper).
There are a few other hand held monitors on the market.
I think the main issue over paediatric use is the device you chose for
taking the breath sample; Quintron have very handy sampling systems,
even ones in which the breath sample is stable for a period of weeks.
Happy hunting!
