I have come across the following map printed on linen.
"A new and correct map of England and Wales (taken from a late and
accurate survey) with [th]e roads & distances of [th]e principal towns
in measured miles from London"
Imprint: J. Barwick & Co. Augst. 12 1767.
I cannot find any reference to this map or to the compnay and was
wondering if anyone had come across either of them.
I am not an expert on textiles but I think the linen may date to this
period, but I may be wrong and it may be a much later printing of the
map. I am not aware of other linen maps of this period, does anyone know
of other examples?
Thanks,
Huw
