i must Yield to the Obvious, Bob.
should have said "the First Middlevil depiction..."
like so much else, all knowledge of Laptop usage in Antiquity was lost in the
Dark Ages, not to be Rediscovered until the 12th c. Renaissance which, of
course, happened at Chartres.
i should also note that that the fully developed Clam-shell configuration
--clearly seen in your Greek prototype-- is not yet present in the Chartrain
exemplar and, probably, remained unknown in the West until the innovations of
Thomas Aquinas.
