Well, Young Ken (and all other 'Lis-maps' subscribers who have remained
strangely silent), what does one reply? Along the lines that
terrestrial contours were not 'invented' until about 200 years ago;
marine ditto about 300 years ago? And that we had this - or similar
enquiry - a few (whatever that means) years ago; or was it directed at
RGS only when I was there gainfully employed?
Implicit, as I understand the lady's enquiry, is that she is expecting
contemporary maps. On the other hand, if she's happy - or mollified - by
getting a copy of 19th-century OS 6" to 1 mile contoured map(s) or
larger-scale plan(s) on which she can transfer formations and movements
of the armies, this would be feasible.
I can (almost) not believe that London Borough of Barnet's Local Studies
Library hasn't something along these lines already compiled and
available: has she enquired?

Any ideas?

Please could you let me know whether any maps have been produced, with
contours, for the Battle of Barnet, 1471.
I have already searched on the internet and in books I have on the
subject, but have not yet found any illustrations of maps with contours.
I'd welcome any suggestions you have as to where I might find such maps.
Many thanks,
Pamela Bromley
