The Water Industry Commission for Scotland has the job of ensuring that
Scotland's five million water customers pay no more than is absolutely
necessary for their water and sewerage service. The industry is going
through a period of profound change with the introduction of competition
for non domestic supply, revisions to wholesale supply and the current
price review.
There is a significant volume of analytical work to be completed in
order to strengthen the new framework and prepare for the regulation of
Scottish Water's new wholesale business. The purpose of the role will
be to take an area of interest, identify the issues and work up a
framework for addressing them that will withstand the rigour of
challenge both internally and under close external scrutiny.
Our client is looking for bright and capable analysts to provide
accurate analysis of the implications. The successful candidates will
have:
* Significant intellectual skills and a proven track record of
their successful application in a practical setting
* Substantial and credible experience of strategic or numerical
analysis in a complex and demanding environment
* A strong background in mathematics, statistics, economics,
accounting or finance
* The ability to develop and articulate ideas in an
intellectually challenging environment to senior stakeholders both
within and outside the Commission
This is a demanding role that will help set the charges paid by all
Scottish households and businesses for the next four years. It provides
a unique opportunity for oversight of how economic regulation works.
