Following the special call for applications for grants for foreign
students (deadline September 4, 2008), the ordinary announcement for
admission to PhD Schools of Padova University has been published on
September 2, 2008 (deadline October 2, 2008).
Eight positions for the PhD School in Statistics will be covered by
scholarship of 13.638,47 ¤ per year for a total of 3 years. Of these,
two positions will be devoted to special research subjects, while for
the other positions the research subject will be defined by the
candidate together with the school board at the end of the first year.
There will be also two positions without scholarship, for students who
would like to attend the School and have funding from other sources.
For positions in the ordinary announcement, admission is by a two-steps
competition. In the first step, the Admission Committee examines each
candidate's qualifications and work to date and compiles a provisional
ranking of candidates in order of merit. This list will be posted at the
Department Notice Board and on the School website at least one week
before the date of the written test. In the second step, candidates are
required to sit a written test, which will take place at the Department
of Statistical Sciences on October 23, 2008 at 14.00. Applicants
interested in the special topics, who passed the two phases above, will
be selected on the basis of an additional test that will take place on
October 24.
