Every year the National Blood Service (NBS) helps to save and improve
hundreds of lives. From a network of centres across England and North
Wales, we collect approximately 1.8 million units of blood each year from
1.2 million volunteer donors. This is a new opportunity for two organised
and self-motivated individuals to contribute to the research programme in
the NBS/Medical Research Council (MRC) Clinical Studies Unit (CSU) which
undertakes a range of clinical studies and trials aimed at improving
evidence based practice in transfusion medicine.

Join us and you'll play a vital role in providing full clinical data
management support for one or more clinical trials within the CSU portfolio,
contributing as a valued member of the team at all stages of the trial from
study design to data entry, validation and analysis. Reporting directly to
the CSU Manager, you'll also play a leading role in improving the quality
and practice of data management practices within the CSU, working to
internationally accepted standards of good clinical practice.
We're looking for a science graduate with a postgraduate qualification e.g.
MSc or equivalent extensive experience as a clinical trials data manager.
You'll be highly IT literate and possess excellent computing skills, with
hands-on experience of designing, testing and using project-specific
clinical study databases and case-report forms, and a thorough grounding in
data query management. Highly organised and capable of meticulous attention
to detail, you'll be familiar with one or more clinical trial data
management software programmes. Preference will be given to candidates who
have used InferMed Macro Clinical Trial Manager and/or Access, and who have
an aptitude for developing computer programming skills. As this post will
involve liaising with colleagues at the MRC Clinical Trials Unit in London
and attending trial management meetings, you must be willing to travel.
Both posts are full-time for 37.5 hrs/week, however, applications from
