A PSI TRAINING COURSE ON STATISTICAL THINKING FOR PROGRAMMERS BY DR.

There is just over one week left to register and obtain the early bird
discount for the 2-day training course "Statistical Thinking for
Programmers" on 15th & 16th October, presented by Dr. Richard Kay at
Staverton Park, Daventry, Northamptonshire, NN11 6JT.
Accommodation at Staverton Park is limited on the 15th October and is
now full on the 14th October. If you require accommodation on either

who will confirm your hotel reservation for the 15th October and add you
to a waiting list for the 14th October. At this point you will be asked
to register on line to the course and if necessary book accommodation at
the Barcelo Hotel, Daventry, which is a couple of miles drive away from
Staverton Park. Should accommodation become available at Staverton Park
you will be contacted and asked to cancel your room/s at the Barcelo
Hotel. We have been advised that there will be no cancellation charge
at the Barcelo Hotel if rooms are cancelled on the day prior to your
arrival before 2.00pm.
This course will focus on the statistical methods used in a clinical
trial setting. It is relevant to programmers with either a statistical
or a non-statistical background and will illustrate how statistical
methods are applied in a clinical pharmaceutical setting. The following
key topics will be addressed:
* Basic Issues in Clinical Design
* Sampling and Inferential Statistics
* Confidence Intervals and p-Values
* Multicentre Trials
* Adjusted Analyses and Analysis of Covariance
* Intention to Treat, Analysis Sets and Missing Data
* Power and Sample Size
* Multiplicity
* Interim Analysis and Data Monitoring Committees
* Analysing Safety Data

For those unfamiliar with the location, the hotel is easily accessible
by train and car, and from airports. Please find details below.
By Car
From Northamptonshire and M1 (Junction 16). Follow the A45 to Daventry.
Follow signs for the A425 towards Leamington Spa and Staverton.
Staverton Park is located on the right hand side, about half a mile from
the outskirts of Daventry.
From the North and M1 (Junction 18). Leave the motorway and follow the
A361 to Daventry. Follow signs for A425 towards Leamington Spa and
Staverton. Staverton is located on the right hand side, about half a
mile from the outskirts of Daventry.
From M40 and Banbury (Junction 11). Leave the motorway and follow the
A361 to Daventry. After approximately 16 miles and after Badby village,
turn left at signpost for Staverton. Follow road, until small
roundabout, turn right at roundabout. Staverton Park is located half a
mile on the left.
Please note that Staverton Park operates a security gate for entrance to
the venue. Please have your confirmation email and a form of identity
to hand when you reach the main gate.
By Train:
Northampton and Rugby main line stations are both approximately 12 miles
away. Trains leave from London Euston and take approximately 1 hour.
Direct rail journey from Gatwick to Rugby takes approximately 2 hours.
By Air:
Birmingham International Airport is 30 miles away. The M1 provides a
direct route to London's three main airports (Heathrow, Gatwick and
Stansted) via the M25, M4/M23 and M11 respectively.
Journey times are approximately 90 minutes to Heathrow and Stansted and
150 minutes to Gatwick.
