Jorge Frascara
Jorge is Professor Emeritus, University of Albert and has published nine
books, including Communication Design and Designing Effective
Communications, and more than 50 articles. He now lives in Italy working on
information design and traffic safety communications, and contributing to
the Master in Medical Design and the doctoral program of the University Iuav
of Venice.
Sharon Helmer Poggenpohl
Sharon recently returned to the US from teaching in the School of Design at
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University where she developed a new master
Interaction Design program—one of only three in Asia. She coordinated their
post-graduate programs, overseeing the masters and doctoral programs, and
organized a large design research conference, titled Emerging Trends in
Design Research, for the International Association of Societies of Design
Research.
Armin Vit
Born and raised in Mexico City, Armin is a graphic designer and writer now
living in Brooklyn, New York. He has written for AIGA's VOICE, Emigre, Eye,
Creative Review, HOW, and STEP magazines, among others. He is co-founder of
UnderConsideration and its myriad sites. He now runs UnderConsideration's
Department of Design with his wife and partner, Bryony, and they are
currently writing and designing two books for the graphic design profession.
Doug Bartow
Doug has been slicing apart and re-assembling letterforms for the better
part of the last 20 years. As Design Director at MASS MoCA (Massachusetts
Museum of Contemporary Art) from 1995 to 2003, Doug helped put the country's
largest art center on the cultural map. Doug co-founded id29 in 2003 and
their work for Pitney Bowes MapInfo, Scholastic Inc., EMPAC, Steve Case's
Revolution, Brown's Brewing Co., and DT Swiss has garnered national and
international attention.
Registrants will have access to content by live–synchronous–presentations in
the form of podcasts and webcasts, downloadable portable document format
(PDF) files, and PowerPoint presentations with voiceovers, and existing or
new design blogs and wikis. Key presentations streamed live will include
synchronous question and answer sessions.
