Hi,
I believe that you need one piece of data in common between the 2 directories (ldap and the library record).
When the patron logs in with anything to ldap this common field is retrieved.
This retrieved indexed field is then used to search for the patron record.
We use network login to retrieve the UNIV ID which is I believe for us is UCAS number for students, payroll number for staff.
This is also the field we use to overlay loaded patron records.
So we do not use the barcode for LDAP.
Hope that helps.
