Hi Henry,
I am suggesting that there is ever a period of rest or peace. What I am
suggesting is that during periods when the public feels under 'attack' there
would seem to be a rise in films such as those I mention. For better or
worse there were not a tremendous number of these types of films during the
Reagan era. I would argue that this is because the fall of the Soviet Union
and the rather strong economic and domestic picture made the public feel
more secure and less threatened. That is my point. The threat from the 'Red
Menace', communism was in every sense as threatening to the public psyche as
the 'break down of social values and traditions' were in the 1960s.
