It seems that Terry and I operate in similar ways, so I have no strong view on editing posts. Sometimes, in the way I store things on disk, it helps to have much of the previous record attached. Some folks will have limited editing functions too, (as I have at the moment).
With Design Research News, by far the majority of people who write to me irritatingly send the entire newsletter too. I just got used to it.

It's likely true that many get messages one at a time, but the use of
carefully edited replies serves useful functions even for the JISCMAIL web
interface.
It makes following threads easier -- and the careful use of editing and
headers also makes it easier to use the JISCMAIL reading and search functions.
