Hi, David.
Well, I can plead. Even hope.
Admittedly, when using a phone, editing functions are few. I'm thinking more of those
many citizens who address the list from a full-service computer with a keyboard and
the opportunity to use it.
As it is, I often store interesting threads by copying out the posts and pasting them into
a word document that permits me to make a legible transcript of the ongoing discussions.
One thing that makes it easier to use is removing much of the repeated material so that I
can follow the evolving conversation.
It's clear that different people have different views. I'd still assert that some editing of the
reply function helps, especially when the reply only concerns the latest post, while the trail
of tailing items includes long posts four and five items down the chain with >>>>> lots of
arrows
Just as one may leave tails on with moderation, so may one edit with moderation. I daresay
that along with the purposeful retention of prior posts for those who want the tail, and
beyond the obvious challenges of editing on a cell phone, many of these long tails are
simply residue.
Yours,
Ken

It seems that Terry and I operate in similar ways, so I have no strong view
on editing posts. Sometimes, in the way I store things on disk, it helps to
have much of the previous record attached. Some folks will have limited
editing functions too, (as I have at the moment).
