medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear Sherry,
This sounds like just the lead I´ve been looking for. Do you have Corine's contact info?
For anyone else who may have missed the first query, I´m looking for information about REALLY TINY
(2-6 inches tall) portable statues of saints. Thanks to those of you who already responded,
Meg

Thanks for the reminder, Marjorie. I've forgotten who originally asked about miniature statues, but just ran across a reference to a forthcoming article on the subject by Corine Schleif (Art History, Arizona State).
Here's the citation: "Saint Hedwig's Personal Ivory Madonna: Women's Agency and the Powers of Possessing Portable Figures," in _Four Modes of Seeing: Approaches to Medieval Images in Honor of Madeline Caviness_, ed. Evelyn Lane, Elizabeth Pastan and Ellen Shortell (Basingstoke, expected summer 2008).
