Dear Friend
ThinkWell <http://thinkwell.eu/> would like to invite you to consider
joining a new
<http://www.thinkwell.eu/featuredresearch/gallery/research.php?research_id=1
2> study that is looking at whether there is any benefit from stretching
before and after exercise. ThinkWell <http://thinkwell.eu/> (The
International Network for Knowledge about Wellbeing) is an international
organisation coordinated by researchers in Oxford University that helps
consumers and members of the public set up, or participate in, research into
health and wellbeing (www.ThinkWell.eu <http://www.thinkwell.eu/> ).
The

2> Stretching Study - ThinkWell is undertaking this research in
collaboration with the University of Sydney, Australia, the Norwegian
Knowledge Centre for the Health Services, the Spanish Critical Appraisal
Skills Programme (CASPe). Its primary purpose is to establish whether
stretching before and after exercise reduces injury, prevents muscle
soreness, or makes people feel better (looser). The way we will find this
out is by asking half of those who join the study not to stretch and the
other half to stretch before and after their usual exercise for a period of
12 weeks. Participants will tell us once a week what they did and how they
felt in a short questionnaire over the internet. The results in the two
groups will then be compared. If you want to sign up to be involved you
must be willing either to stretch or to not stretch because a computer will
decide by chance which of the two you will be asked to do. This type of
study is known as a randomised controlled trial. Everyone who is 18 or
older and who does vigorous exercise (like playing sport, going to the gym
or running) at least once a week can join in. You should have no current
injury. The only other requirement is that you should have an email address
and internet access so that you can let us know how you are feeling each
week. If you would like more information or to join this study click
