Theme of the PhD :
*An archaeozoological approach of early dairying in Neolithic Europe*
in the Lab “Archaeozoology, history of human societies and animal
communities”
of the National Museum of Natural History and CNRS,
Paris

The research program aims to improve the understanding of the
slaughtering profiles of sheep, goat and cattle of European Neolithic
sites. Archaeological tooth series will be analysed or revisited.
Several interpretative models will be tested using stable isotope
analyses at the Museum lab, and by sampling for ancient DNA sex
determination, which will be processed in collaboration with the
University of Uppsala, Sweden.
General skills in Neolithic archaeology and archaeozoology are required.
The candidates must not be French nor have recently stay in France for a
job.
The PhD « An archaeozoological approach of early dairying in Neolithic
Europe » will be trained by Dr J.-D. Vigne, with the help of Dr. M.
Balasse and Dr. A. Tresset in the CNRS archaeozoology lab at the
National Museum of Natural History, Paris.
