Dear Victor
I think the issues have been covered quite well - that is, people will align themselves with which ever part of the discussion suits?
I think that Terry's perspective is a fair account of the political and logical aspects of institution and practical knowledge. What remains outside is the knowledge-of-proximity or community. I don't really know what I know until I am in certain communities where this knowledge has significance, bearing, substance, value and its grounding. Sure, I have an article in my pocket, or is it a paper knife? But really, knowledge is in the world or an ecology - private knowledge is like a wart on the bum. Just publishing bum warts seems to be vanity no matter how urgent or practical. The Blackwoods catalogue is a great read only because it is a exhaustive menu in the great cafe of engineering where people talk and share values and break bread.

Dear Terry:
At this point, I would like to open the discussion to more voices in
case others are interested in the topic. I will be happy to jump back
in if we get some additional views on the screen.
Best, Victor
