OK pea, I don’t mind being a pumpkin either....
So we’ll say subjective identity for some designers relates to their ‘embodied expertise’?
But not to being ‘expert’ in the sense of the grammarian who writes no poems.
Or the designer who weaves no cloth ? (I used to make textiles, too)

Dear Amanda
I don't mind being put into a pea pod - maybe I'd just like to de-reduce
the subjective identity by allowing that they also might be expert -
there is no exclusion - I could give you an account of how to scan my
poetry but it would not fit within the reductive patterns that are used
by school teachers and academic experts who never wrote no poems. Syntax
is always the realm where the skill and the expertise are grounded. Most
experts stay in the land of grammar. So, maybe the subjective identity
is embodied expertise? Can that be articulated in dis-embodied ways?
Yes!

Dear all,
reading Keith and Kathryn's conversation (reductively, I know !)
Cultural symbols – Design is poetic, it can be geometric or free form
process
Normative concepts – Designing textiles is visceral, embodied, natural,
mysterious, enveloping, generative, emergent,
Political and social institutions – Design refers to English literature,
art, architecture - elevated, not elementary education
Subjective identity – designers are poets, the voice we listen to,
skilled but not ‘expert’

Dear all
the only context for Design is the HUMAN..Without human entity
[tangible,
intangible) there is no design.
So Design for me is the mind art of analyzing the best fit of human into
the socio-cultural-economic-technological environment promoting the
ongoing change of humanity's perception for the humans capacities beyond
limits.
