medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

my understanding (and please correct me if i'm wrong) is that this is *the*
Definitive [so far] Edition.
which, alas, my library doesn't have.
making the PL ed. (ultimately based on Mabillon's, i believe) still quite
useful for me and, surely, should be cited in addition to the Leclercq ed. for
the convenience of those (like me) without access to the latter.

the "new" ed. of BSJ's translation
The letters of St Bernard of Clairvaux, translated by Bruno Scott James;
introduction by Beverly Mayne Kienzle. Kalamazoo, MI: Cistercian Publications,
1998. [BX4700.B5 A413 1998]
has a BSJ <-> Leclercq concordance table.

thought I'd cite the translation as well. But I've run into to problems. The
letter to William of Poitiers is #130 (not 127), which makes me wonder if
there is a standard numbering system.
me, too.
seems like there cannot be, given the evident differences in the two systems
and the 300 year old history of the Mabillion ed.
i assume that Leclercq must have had *very* good reasons for renumbering the
whole corpus.
>I got a two volume French text (ed. Leclerq), but the set doesn't include
this letter.
presumably the Sources chretienne ed.
Bernard, of Clairvaux, Saint.
Lettres. (texte latin des S. Bernardi Opera par J. Leclercq, H. Rochais et Ch.
H. Talbot; introduction et notes par Monique Duchet-Suchaux; traduction par
Henri Rochais.)
Paris: Editions du Cerf, 1997-2001.
[Sources chrétiennes, nos. 425, 458; t. 1. Lettres 1-41 -- t. 2. Lettres
42-91] [BR60 .S72 no.458, no.425]
nice enough, but which, alas doesn't have a concordance table to the
PL/Mabillon ed. either.
seems to me that, once it is completed (or even now for pre-ep. 91), that SC
edition should be citable as well, given that the numbering follows that of
Leclercq.
