Dear Colleagues,
It is becoming increasingly apparent that it would be useful to have a
nationally commissioned alternative to the neonatal screening bloodspot
card. Examples of the uses to which these cards are being put include:
- 17 hydroxy progesterone for CAH monitoring
- diagnostic acylcarnitine profiles
- TSH for Downs syndrome children
- glucose profiles
- PKU monitoring
- IQC
- assay development
There are good reasons why a separate card for these things would be
valuable.
* It would avoid confusion in screening lab receptions.
* It would prevent the cards being processed for neonatal screening by mistake.
* It would emphasise the relevant patient demographics because it could look more like a conventional pathology request card.
We would like to canvas for support to take this idea forward and would
like to estimate the numbers of cards that would need to be printed in
the first instance. Please reply to one of us before July 31st:
