medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
This theme (marriage or even just romantic love as distraction to intellectual pursuits) is alive and well today. The 20th-c. writer François Mauriac believed it wholeheartedly, at least as is suggested in his novels. I bet Brenda Cook will remind us that Heloise (acc. to some) did not want to marry Abelard for the same reason.
