Hello, List.
What are other library services currently charging for reprints of
photographs from their local history collections?
We are particularly interested in the following sizes:
9" x 6"
10" x 8"
12" x 10"
15" x 10"
Do you have a different charge for colour and b/w photographs in each case,
given the increasing number of colour images in digital formats?
How has printing from digital images impacted on your printing and sales of
photographs?
We have a dilemma here. The Local Collection images we all have are by and
large a USP, and one that can be used to raise income by selling copies at
a premium rate, that demand suggests the market can stand, and that can
contribute to meeting local authority pressures to raise income. On the
other hand, it's difficult to square this with social inclusion, given the
risk of pricing our local history photographs beyond some pockets of the
community.
Is providing value-added options, by way of different grades of
paper/printing/frames, etc, a solution to the problem, or simply not cost-
effective? What experience have others had in this area?
I shall summarise for the list.
Many thanks.
