Hi, in the absence of Sheila Smart who is on holiday, I can report that
in St Andrews we are working with our Business Improvements Unit to
implement electronic payment of fines for the start of the academic year
(we are maintaining a degree of vagueness about which academic year!)
The University already use electronic 'shop' software for a variety of
electronic payment systems across the University and Finance Office /
Business Improvements are confident that the API product from III will
work. We look forward to testing tjhis hypothesis!
Sheila will no doubt keep this list up to date with this development. We
also hope to implement self issue and self return in our Short Loan
collection this summer so fines payment using cash is a desirable
feature, especially for students who want to pay fines by cash (usually
after 22.00 and wish to borrow from our extensive DVD collection!) This
means that we will be switching off the Short Loans booking application
since our outstanding interface issues between 3M self issue and III
Bookings software seem beyond a workable solution (choosing my words
carefully here!)
Regards
Jon
