At Bangor books supplied by Blackwell Book Services are not quite shelf
ready. Because we use several classification schemes, getting Blackwell
to assign call numbers and spine labels would mean setting up a separate
account for each classification scheme. We have decided that sending
and receiving separate files of orders based on the classification
scheme would be more time-consuming than copying and pasting the call
number from a bib record or assigning one when the book is in hand.
But we do receive files of OCLC records, invoice data and item data
(minus the call number) which we load to Millennium, thus eliminating
the need to search OCLC and upgrade brief bib records, create item
records or input invoice data.
A colleague and I hope to do a presentation on this topic at EIUG in
September.
