Dear list members,
has there been any work done of the question of, so to speak, 'self-
devouring beasts' in literature and film? I was thinking there might
be links between e.g. Stanley Ellin's short story 'The Specialty of
the House', Frankenheimer's Seconds and Fleischer's (nomen est omen)
Soylent Green. In all three narratives, protagonists find out that the
system perpetuates itself through acts of devouring the very product
it seeks to produce...
Any thoughts on this are, as always, most appreciated!
Best,
Henry
