Dear all,
Can anybody help me with the following enquiry:
I am trying to locate Iron Age animal burials or at least partially
articulated faunal remains associated with settlement sites for my post
graduate research at the University of Bradford. I am particularly
interested in the counties of Hampshire, Dorset and East Yorkshire/Humber
but would be interested in any Iron Age sites where animal burials have
been recovered, particularly any remains that have been identified as
pathological. Can anybody point me in the direction of any relevant sites
or has anybody recorded any as a part of their work/research? I would be
most grateful for any information provided.
I am in the process of making enquiries to the relevant HER's but I have
been advised that animal burials are not often listed and it all depends
upon the detail of the original reports that the inmformation has been
taken from. I am currently trying to locate some published examples but was
hoping that somebody may be able to provide me with some site names.
I am particularly interested in horse, cattle, sheep/goat, pig and also dog
(just about everything i guess!).
Thank you in advance for your time and help,
Best regards
Jen Wooding
