Ah, Christopher, most pilgrims always were. The big difference between now and the Middle
Ages is that we have newspapers. I'd wager that pilgrimages from Paris to Chartres were
rather plentiful during the Middle Ages, even though there are only a few high-profile
instances recorded, like St Louis doing it bare-foot (although he cheated and didn't do the
whole distance). It's rather ironic that it has only been since miracles have ceased to be
expected on pilgrimages that they manage to get documented.

Did you read April's editorial? There's more of The Da Vinci Code in it than the Bible!
Cheers,
Jim
