medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
And how very appropriate that
> the saved souls are now clothed, while the souls still
> in torment remain naked. Could the saved be Adam and
> Eve?
Apart from the Anglo-Saxon one in Bristol which is quite different from all
the others I have seen, (we had a thread about that a week or two ago) yes
Adam & Eve are depicted as clothed and AFAIK this shows they are among the
redeemed. Sometime other OT characters can be identified, notably King David
with his crown. I understand the theological point of this is that ALL the
sons and daughters of A & E are redeemed, and not just the Sons of Abraham.
It emphasises the universality of the Atonement.
