Paul, Gavin,
> ONe of the common themes of national and statewide design reviews in
> Australia over the last 20 years (particularly 1987, 1995, 2005
> (Vic)) also have noted the excessive oversupply of design graduates
I guess there is a heavy over-supply of philosophers too, with few
jobs available as professional philosophers... However, such graduates
do seem to find a place as thinkers in a wide variety of jobs. Must be
something to do with their education rather than training :o)
As Paul suggests, design graduates need a bit of width in their
thinking abilities if they are to survive in competitive job market
and a changing world, and this does have implications for design
education.
