Dear all
We would like to extend a warm invitation to you to join us at a talk presented by Prof David Durling at the National University of Singapore.
"There are many approaches to understanding the characteristics of creativity exhibited by different kinds of designers. To take one example, engineering designers may be characterised more by systematic processes and functional imperatives. Another example might show designers from the 'art and design' sector having a more intuitive and culturally aware approach. Across professional boundaries, though the modes of reasoning may be markedly diverse, there are similarities of creative personality and cognitive traits that throw light on the remarkable abilities of creative people.
In this talk Professor Durling will discuss links between studies of cognitive and personality traits across engineering, architecture and arts-based designing, and why such understanding is helpful to designers in being creative, and to others in understanding the special contribution that designer thinking can make to industry generally."
