medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I agree that there was an interest in highlighting the
"assumption" aspect of the feast, rather than the
"dormition" or other threads of the celebration.
The other differences, which are the ones I am really
interested in traking, are the introductions of the
Epistle and Chapter readings fro Judith, as well as
the use of some of the hymnography from that book.

pre- and post-1950s Roman Missals for August 15th, the
feast of the Assumption. The collect and secret
prayers are changed to include the word 'Assumption'
while the post-communion prayer remains the same. So I
have two hypotheses for the change:
1. to highlight the word 'Assumption' explicitly; and
2. to make sure that the Roman prayers replaced any
very old local ones. Those with access to other
missals might be able to comment on this second
hypothesis.
